Duliajan College Teachers' Unit, affiliated to Assam College Teachers' Association was formed in the session 1972-73 with Mr Purnakanta Hazarika as its President and late Brojen Nirmalia as its Secretary. All the permanent teachers of the college are its members. The tenure of the President and the Secretary of the unit is one year. Every year a new committee is formed with its duly selected President and Secretary.

Since inception the unit has played a very crucial role in the infrastructural and academic development of the college. Though the unit was formed to address the issues of its members like appointment, promotion, salary, arrear payment etc., over the years its scope has widened and extended to other key areas of the institution. It has contributed significantly to the infrastructural development of the college.

The teachers' unit of the college is concerned about its academic development. Besides giving feedback to the authority as to how to improve the academic environment, it tries to ensure that they are implemented in the best possible way. It takes initiatives to organize workshops, seminar etc, from time to time. Besides it brings out an annual peer-reviewed research journal named 'Pragyajyoti' with the articles/ research papers contributed by the teachers.

Duliajan College Teachers' Unit is a vibrant body with its members actively participating in different academic and non-academic activities. It has a women cell called Women Cell, DCTU which conducts different programmes pertaining to women empowerment inside and outside the college campus. Every year On International Women' Day, the members of the cell visit different schools located in the remote areas of Duliajan and organize awareness programmes on Girls' education, Menstruation and Hygiene by delivering talk, conducting street plays, distributing leaflets etc.
