The Department of Zoology of Duliajan College was established in the year 1989 with Ms. Nirupama Phukan (rtd.) as the founder HoD. In November 2003, the department obtained permission to offer B.Sc Zoology major course under Dibrugarh University. The department offers both Honours and Generic courses in Zoology. The Department has a well-equipped laboratory and classrooms with ICT facility along with a fully stocked and updated departmental library. Currently, the department has two permanent faculty members with a total student strength of 50.

Facilities:
The department has its own building with classrooms having ICT facility.
The laboratory is well equipped with instruments required for specific experiments including electrophoresis unit, colorimeter, nephelometer, water testing kit etc., as well as a varied collection of both museum and microscopic specimens.
The department also has a fully stocked and updated departmental library consisting of 300 books for Degree courses and 80 books for HS course. Books from the departmental library is issued to both Degree and HS students.
